Jaime Nuñez del Arco is a visual artist, editor, and editorial designer based in Quito, Ecuador. His practice sits at the intersection of language, book production, and printmaking, with an artistic exploration centered on text and hand lettering.
He is the co-founder of Terminal, a publishing house focused on Latin American artists, diasporic practices, and discourses of resistance. He has participated in global art book fairs such as the Printed Matter Art Book Fair (New York), Index Art Book Fair (Mexico City), Miss Read (Berlin), Miralook (Madrid), and Arts Libris (Barcelona). His editorial work has been published by Taschen, and some of his artist books—such as Art To Make Pancakes To and Conspiracy Theories On Reggaeton—are part of the institutional collections of the New York Public Library (NYPL) and the MACBA Museum in Barcelona. As an editor and editorial designer, he has worked for international labels including Recodo Press (Quito), Exile Books (Miami), and Arts of the Working Class (Berlin).
In the visual arts, his work uses writing and hand-drawn typography as raw material to analyze social themes, contemporary culture, and memory. Notable solo exhibitions include N.del Arco (Casa del Barrio, Guayaquil, 2023), Gloria Gaynor Tenía Razón (N24, Quito, 2020), and Aquí y en Everywhere (+ARTE, Quito, 2019). He has presented installations and artwork at international fairs and galleries such as PARC (Lima), ArteBA (Buenos Aires), and the group exhibition The Exhausted Land (Klosterfelde Edition, Berlin), in addition to being selected by the Saatchi Gallery (London) for its Screen Project. He has previously exhibited at the Havana and Cuenca Biennials, as well as in spaces in Seattle (COCA), Barcelona (CCCB), Florence (Pitti Immagine), Munich, and Ljubljana.
